Notice the LM301 is soldered directly to the pcb. However you should use IC sockets.

Just out of curiosity, why do you recommend using a socket for the LM301 in the 4012 filter? Is it under some stress that makes it likely to need replacing?

Nope, it's not. But it will be much easier to replace if it gets defunct. It will be hard to source another filter pcb if you damage it by desoldering the IC.
